This Friday, March 15, Slow Food Miami will hold its 2nd Annual “Snail of Approval” Tasting Party. Guests of the event will join hosts Chef Norman Van Aken and WSVN 7’s Deco Drive anchor Louis Aguirre at The James Royal Palm as they enjoy bites prepared by some of Miami’s most talented chefs, sip on cocktails provided by Grey Goose Vodka, wines by Vinecraft, and non-alcoholic refreshments from Whole Foods Market – South Beach.
The Slow Food Miami “Snail of Approval” points South Floridians and visitors to food that is good, clean and fair by identifying and honoring producers, purveyors and artisans who contribute to food and drink’s quality, authenticity and sustainability.
“We love having our Snail of Approval Tasting Party at the peak of South Florida’s harvest season,” says Renee Frigo Graeff, Slow Food Miami President. “This celebration allows us to sample creations from Miami’s best chefs and producers while also recognizing their support of our local farmers. “
The Tasting Party guests will savor bites from an A-List line-up of restaurants, including the following 2013 Snail winners & 2012 Snail party crowd-pleasers: 1500° at Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach; Copperbox Culinary Atelier; The Dutch at the W South Beach; Eating House, Edge Steak & Bar at the Four Seasons; Essensia at the Palms; The Federal; Harry’s Pizzeria; HaVen Gastro-Lounge; Lido at The Standard; LoKal; Ocean Reef Club; Tuyo at MCI; Wynwood Kitchen & Bar and Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. There will also be beer tastings by 2013 Snail winners The Abbey and Titanic and more.
The VIP after party, taking place from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, will be hosted by Florida Cookery and will feature special guest Hedy Goldsmith, Executive Pastry Chef of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and author of “Baking Out Loud.” The after party will honor 2014 nominees Kris Wessel of Florida Cookery and Matt Hinckley of Boxpark.
Proceeds from the event benefit Slow Food Miami’s Edible School and Community Garden Program. The 100 percent volunteer, non-profit dedicated to “planting a fresher future for our children,” also serves as the local chapter of Slow Food USA, a national non-profit dedicated to supporting good, clean and fair food for everyone. .
