Attention Foodies! This Thursday, March 14, Cultural Tourism DC presents the 5th annual Embassy Chef Challenge at the Ronald Reagan Building. This is the semi-finalist round for the challenge, with the private preliminary round having been held on February 10, 2013. The challenge reconvenes March 14, with the chefs offering up their most amazing hors d’oeuvres for 400 guests and a panel of acclaimed chefs. The judges panel include Top Chef “Fan Favorite” Carla Hall; Tim Carman a food reporter for The Washington Post; and, executive pastry chef of Hello Cupcake, Penny Karas. Over a dozen chefs representing embassies and countries from around the world will be vying for the Judge’s Choice Award as well as the People’s Choice Award, voted on by the guests.
The Embassy Chef Challenge will benefit the free programs of and events offered through the Cultural Tourism DC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the culture and art of Washington D.C. Participating embassies include Afghanistan, China, El Salvador, Jamaica, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, and Trinidad & Tobago. The chefs representing the countries will offer up hors d’oeuvres that will best highlight their countries cuisine. This event is an amazing opportunity to open up your palette to international flavors while mingling with the diplomatic community. A top shelf open bar will be available and their will be both live and silent auctions.
