Chance Fashion: The Eco-Friendly Designers Fashion Show At Neighbours In Seattle

On Saturday, March 9, Neighbours in Seattle will host Chance Fashion: The Eco-Friendly Designers Edition Fashion Show.

Chance is a monthly networking event for the Northwest Fashion Community. Each month they hold a new designer theme runway showcase featuring aspiring designers. This month is the Eco-Friendly Designers Edition Fashion Show, bringing three fashion designers together to showcase their green fashion creations through the art of using recycled pieces. Desda Sayer, the woman behind Paper Dollz Clothing, turns ruffles, lace, sequins and bows into unique one-of-a-kind pieces, with the mantra of “one-of-a-kind past with a one-of-a-kind present” influencing her designs. In September 2010, Paper Dollz Clothing won Chance’s Collaboration of the Month Award.

Two of Desda’s collaborative partners in 2010, Christopher Chapman and Kristen Ivy, now volunteer with Chance as event staff, which shows just how much Chance’s events mean to the Pacific Northwest fashion community!

All of these inspired and attainable looks will be featured on the runway. Come out to support local up-and-coming fashion designers in the Seattle! If you cannot make it this time around, the next fashion design showcase will be on Saturday, April 13.

Chance not only showcases aspiring designers each month, they also hold an open casting call for new models before each show, have one-on-one photography time for participating and walk-in models, allow for space setup for participating photographers, and award “Collaboration of the Month” awards for participating artists. The production team for the shows are all run by volunteers who work to help artists expand their resources and get the exposure needed to practice their trade while gaining hands on experience. Chance has brought two designers from San Francisco to Seattle, three from Portland, and have had designers from all over the states, including Boston, Miami, Beverly Hills, Austin, and New York, ship them materials to showcase for events.
