With the excitement and flurry of award season behind us, we can now give our full attention to 2013 Spring/Summer trends. This past Tuesday, I had the pleasure of getting the inside scoop of the hottest designers and looks for this upcoming season at the Style Network Luncheon hosted by Tysons Galleria Senior General Manager, Rich Dinning.
Surrounded by some of the District’s top stylists, photographers, and bloggers, I felt very fortunate to be part of such a select and fabulous group of men and women. This invitation-only luncheon took place at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton at Tyson’s Corner, where I was spoiled with a seasonal greens salad with walnuts and pears, lemon glazed salmon, and fresh fruit over crème brulee. The three-course meal was nothing short of amazing, but the real treat was the featured runway models donning the upcoming fashion trends from Tysons’ upscale stores.
Saks Fifth Avenue, Eli Tahari, Tommy Bahama, 7 For All Mankind, Intermix, and Lilly Pulitzer were just some of the designer brands showcased. Let’s take a glimpse at the five trends to look out for this season in outfits, accessories, and shoes.
Modern Pastiche – Mix, match, and repeat! Floral blooms, graphic prints, Tartan plaids, geometrics and Japanese motifs are wildly popular this season.

High Contrast – Nothing is as refreshing this season as a combination of black and white after seasons of bold, brights, and prints. Go for drama and mix it up with geometric combinations of checks, stripes, dots, and triangles.

Role Play – Power takes on new meaning with the new crop of bold, androgynous look this Spring. Alpha girls can take charge from the boardroom to a dinner date in blazers and suits. Why should boys have all the fun?

Easy Going – Silhouettes are kind to real women this Spring with A-line dresses, roomier skirts and blouses. The Japanese influence on fashion has ushered in a sophisticated sense of ease.

Full Disclosure – There is nothing sexier then a little transparency to let the mind wander. From transparent handbags and accessories to veiled blouses and printed sheers, transparency is the new black.
Of course the food, fashion, and fellow fashionistas made this a fabulous event, but the cherry on top were the take home gift bags. Some goodies included a Henri Bendel Chic & Chilly Cosmetic Bag, Lilly Pulitzer 2013 Planner, and Nicole Miller Indego Africa bracelets.
Which 2013 Spring/Summer trend do you like the most? I would love to hear from you!
