Planning Your Schedule For SXSW 2013

My absolute favorite time of the year is coming up; no, not the holiday season, not my birthday and not even my favorite official holiday, July 4. It’s South by Southwest(SXSW)!  Last year was my inaugural event and I couldn’t have planned more in advance for it or had a better time.  And, now that I have somewhat of an idea of what to expect for the most part I think this year will even surpass SX 12.

One of the biggest problems (and a great problem to have) is that so many cool things are often going on at the same time.  How I manage this is keeping a good calendar with every single activity you are interested in attending and are on the list for, so you can always try and run by one event after checking out the first one if possible on those busier days.

If you have an official SXSW badge then you can sign in on the site and add conferences to your schedule that SX keeps for you on it’s site.  It’s a fantastic tool, and the site will grid it for you and you can even pull it up on the SX app.  If you haven’t yet downloaded the SXSW 2013 app, it is a must.  You can sync the app with the site and pull up your saved schedule from there.

Now, those of you without a badge, do not fret! There is so much to do in town for those ten days that doesn’t require a badge that it’s still mind blowing.  Right now, simply Google ‘Free SXSW 2013’ parties and you’ll see so many great options and events you can attend and get on the guest list for right now without needing a badge.

Even if you aren’t sure and doing some last minute planning, I would suggest just heading downtown and between the bars on East 6th and hotels and green spaces around the Convention Center you can surely find some good options.  These don’t just include parties and bands, but food too!  Last year the ‘Today Show’ was passing out fantastic breakfast options (along with cute to-go sunscreens and rain gear) right in front of the downtown Marriott Hotel.  Either way, planners or procrastinators don’t miss out on attending a few events at this year’s SX!
