Ways To Treat Yourself For Valentine’s Day In Austin

Are you alone this Valentine’s Day or, even worse, with the wrong person and wish you were celebrating with girlfriends instead or perhaps just a nice bubble bath and some champagne?  We wanted to share some special ideas to treat yourself this Valentine’s season.

First is the fantastic spa therapist, Stephanie, at the Away Spa at the W.  I hadn’t had an eyebrow wax in probably about two years, and it’s nice to have one professionally done once or twice a year, so I was definitely due in!  Stephanie had the Perfect spa therapist personality- she talked a bit, we discovered similar interests and had a great conversation, but she also knew when I needed to be silent and focus more on the wax on my face.  She honestly made what’s not always the most enjoyable spa treatment a blast, and I can’t wait to go back and see her again.

I’ve tried a lot of salons in Austin.  Most of them have given me a good cut and color, but one stylist I always stick with is Meagan.  I visited her several times at a former salon but she recently jumped ship and started working at Jose Luis Salon.  I haven’t made an appointment to visit her there yet, but I’m so excited to see Meagan soon this spring and get a fabulous update to my look courtesy of her genius styling!  Her amazing work, on both my cut and color, make me feel like a fabulous new person every time I leave her chair.

Looking for a nice, relaxed night out with some girlfriends this Valentine’s Day, but don’t want to head to a fancier restaurant and worry about being surrounded by couples?  Treat yourselves to a cheese plate and some vino at Henri’s Cheese.  The South Lamar cheese shop has amazing wine and allows diners to pick and choose their own cheese selections. So if you aren’t a gourmet in the cheese world, simply tell the team that you enjoy Swiss and goat cheese and they’ll make the perfect charcuterie board for you.

My new favorite workout in town is a perfect treat to give yourself gearing up to (or even on) Valentine’s Day!  CYC classes are more like fun activities than workouts, but you still feel the burn in each fantastic, 45-minute workout.  The studio has gotten creative recently with specialty classes- Justin Timberlake soundtracks on his birthday and a class with all Grammy-nominated music on Grammy Sunday to name a few.  Be sure to try a class with Brett- I’m slightly obsessed with the ones he teaches!

Looking for a really fun night with a mixed coed crew for Valentine’s Day?  Check out Main Events Entertainment.  I notice this facility every time I drive north and finally had a chance to check it out.  Amazing!  This is the perfect group activity for an active group- it has everything you could want from laser tag, bowling and pool tables to tons of video games.  I worked up a sweat killing it on the basketball game, Super Shots, and Guitar Hero.  A night at Main Events is sure to be a perfect activity for a big group of any age.
