Miss A Columnist

Ashley Craig may be Type A when it comes to her mainstay as an accountant, but Miss A brings out this A’s creative side. While pursuing her Masters in Accounting from the University of Washington, Ashley cultivated a passion for all things beautiful. As a result, you’ll find her talking about anything from the causes of the financial crisis to the best lip plumper. A native Seattleite and current resident of Bellevue, she adores exploring all the glitzy bars, cozy cafes, swanky shops and buzzing beauty salons the Seattle area has to offer. Her other interests include playing piano (she has dabbled in classical composition), techno music and chasing cute animals.

What better way to beat the February chill than with a warm bowl of chili?  On Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 6 p.m., head on over to Tavolata in Belltown, where a crew of local chefs and food connoisseurs will put their top-secret recipes to the test to benefit the Fetal Health Foundation.  Among the professional competitors will be Manny Arce of Poquitos, Jim Romdall and Cameo Roberts of Vessel and Dan Braun of Oliver’s Twist.  As a guest, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy chili aplenty, salad, garlic bread and tap beer while voting for your favorite recipes and partaking in smack talk.

What’s more, while you’re savoring a helping of spicy goodness you’ll feel extra warm and fuzzy knowing that your presence is benefiting a great charity.  A national non-profit founded in 2006, the Fetal Health Foundation serves as a liaison between families affected by intrauterine fetal syndromes and medical teams providing care.  In addition to providing

a wealth of information about these syndromes through its online repository of diagnostic information, the organization has financially supported over 300 families with travel grants for those in need of immediate treatment.

An urban Italian restaurant located in the Belltown area, Tavolata was opened in January 2007 by chef Ethan Stowell and features house made pastas and simple Italian cuisine, as well as a full bar and local and Italian wine selection.  The eatery also boasts a 30-foot communal table (or tavolata) running down the center of the venue and patio for seasonal dining.
