Lesley Haenny is the Seattle Editor for Miss A. She is an Air Force wife now living in the Seattle area. Prior to living in Seattle, Lesley spent 7 years in Washington, DC, working as a Congressional liaison. She grew up in a small, mountain town in Southern California, sandwiched between an older sister and a younger brother. Her two hard working parents taught her to always go for the clearance rack, bring your lunch everyday, work hard for what you have, and always take the opportunity to travel and play outside. Lesley has been actively involved in various charities such as the Animal Resource Foundation, Komen For the Cure, Prevent Cancer Foundation, American Diabetes Association and the Race for Hope (benefitting the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure).

Mardi Gras Dinner And Auction To Benefit Communities In Schools Of Washington

New Orleans isn’t the only city that celebrates Mardi Gras! On Saturday, March 2, join Communities in Schools of Washington for their 2013 Mardi Gras Dinner and Auction. Feel the carnival celebration vibe right here in Seattle with the sounds of New Orleans style music echoing throughout as you nosh on Cajun cuisine and have your fortune read to you by a Tarot Card reader. Festive costume attire is encouraged!

Communities in Schools of Washington helps kids overcome obstacles to success, providing connections to everything from positive adult role models as mentors and tutors to basic needs like food and health care, so students come to school ready to learn. In 2012, they helped nearly 46,000 Washington students in elementary, middle and high school through school-wide programs and one-to-one outreach.
