Pantene created Beautiful Lengths in 2006 because healthy hair means so much to women battling cancer.  Beautiful Lengths is a partnership between hair care company Pantene and the American Cancer Society. Pantene’s role is to help women grow long, strong, beautiful hair and provide the funding to turn the hair into free wigs for women with cancer.  To date, Pantene and their clients have donated 24,000 wigs to the American Cancer Society’s Wig Banks that distribute wigs across the country. Zoey Deschanel, Pantene’s new spokeswoman is enthusiastic about the cause, saying: “Pantene is helping to provide confidence and beautiful real-hair wigs to women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment; you can’t put a price on that.”  While Zoey cannot donate her own hair due to her acting roles, “what I can do is encourage others who can do it.”

This year, Pantene has committed over a million dollars to strengthen the cause.  They have created a hair care collection that will help strengthen your hair and a portion of the proceeds will go to the million dollar pledge. The collection can be purchased in stores now.

If you would like to donate your hair, it needs to be dye free, chemical free and bleach free.  At least eight inches must be donated to make a complete wig. Whether you go to a salon or decide to do it yourself, Pantene has great tips and information on how to send your hair. If you have questions, you can speak to a Pantene representative by calling 1-800-945-7768 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
