On Saturday, January 26, 2013, wear some festive attire and bring your taste palate to the Jerry M. Brockey Center for the South Seattle Community College Foundation’s annual, “Gifts from the Earth.”
Be one of 300 exclusive guests to indulge in a wine reception and multi-course dinner prepared by 16 of Seattle’s famous chefs and featuring 30 different Washington wineries, and participate in a silent auction and a live auction featuring prizes such as unique wine and dining packages.
Margaret Larson, the energetic host of KING’s popular daytime show, New Day Northwest, will be the emcee for the evening. Seattle celebrity chefs include Jay DeLong from Canapé, Eric Floyd from Washington Athletic Club, Dan Gilmore from the Hunt Club at the Sorrento Hotel, Robert Houot from South Seattle Community College, Frank Wielgosiek from The Tin Table, John Armstrong from the Sheraton Seattle, Mark Hammond from the Red Lion on 5th, David Kairis from Palisade, Lenny Rede from Northwest Wine Academy, Brian Scheehser from Trellis, Stacy Sparks from the Q-Café, Brian Sullivan from Salish and Ethan Stowell from Ethan Stowell Restaurants. Other celebrity chefs include South Seattle Community College alumni, Mark Guth and Carly Duke from Emerald Cove Catering, Jeff Maxfield from Sky City, and Nate Simmons from Serafina!
“Gifts from the Earth” is the Foundation’s annual event that recognizes the South Seattle Community College’s Culinary Arts, Wine Studies and four-year Hospitality programs, along with their partnerships with the industries. The event provides priceless, hands-on learning and networking opportunities for the school’s students as they prepare meals alongside established and well-known Pacific Northwest chefs and students in the Wine Technology program pour wine donated by the amazing wineries of Washington.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the students and the programs at the college, including scholarships, program equipment and tutoring.
