Incorporating Prints Into Your Wedding

A major trend for 2013 is the idea of incorporating prints and patterns into your wedding look. This fresh, new concept can add visual interest to your big event in a variety of different ways.

Patterns such as stripes, polka dots, paisley, and florals can easily be utilized throughout the day. Mixing patterns is also trendy right now, as long as the prints compliment each other.

So, how can you go about embracing this fun trend? Here are my top ideas. Should you try these all at the same time? Absolutely not! But a little print can add visual interest to your overall style!

Ties and pocket squares: An easy way to jazz up the look of your groomsmen is to add a printed accessory! For a beach wedding, a printed tie with a tropical print could be added to a low-key tan suit. For a more formal event, rich patterns such as paisleys or stripes could be paired with a traditional black tuxedo. Patterned vests are also available if that look is desired.

Bridesmaid dresses: Vintage prints, whether matched exactly or combined in an eclectic mix, are super-trendy right now. The look allows bridesmaids to express their personalities while wearing a fun dress that they (really!) actually will want to wear again. If mixing patterns, try to stay within just one color palette to ensure that no single bridesmaid stands out too much in your pictures! The photo above demonstrates a perfect balance of medium tones! Adorable!

Napkins and other table linens: Add dimension and pizzazz to your reception tables by getting creative with patterns and colors. Layer table runners in complimentary patterns, or use printed napkins with solid table cloths. Work with your caterer or linen specialist to play around with different combinations for a memorable look! Chair scarves and the actual china could also incorporate patterns. Have fun with designing a table like nothing your wedding guests have seen before!

Wedding gown: Ah, the classic white wedding gown. The look is ubiquitous, but not mandatory! If prints are more your thing, why not go for a printed wedding gown? A traditionalist may want to be sure that the print incorporates some white or ivory (like the one above), but honestly, it is your day to wear whatever makes you feel your best. Top designers are embracing prints this year, so widen your wedding gown search to a variety of boutiques.

Aisle Runner: To make a fabulous first impression on your guests, why not show off your fabulous style with a printed aisle runner? This is one of the first things your guests will see at the ceremony! The right pattern and color combination will accent your flower selections and dresses.

Have fun with prints, but be sure to strategize where they will be utilized most effectively for a fresh, unique look.
