Last fall, Zach Theatre opened their Topfer Theatre and ushered in a season of incredible performances. Not to be forgotten, however, the Whisenhunt Stage will be host to a number of popular shows in 2013, some of which were previewed at the Topfer opening. One among them, TRU, particularly caught my attention at the August preview and is finally
here in its entirety. Back by popular demand, Jaston Williams is once again playing Truman Capote in this one man show as we take an intimate look into the iconic writer’s life. Written by Jay Presson Allen, it was first produced for Austinites twelve years ago at which time it received great response from audiences. Jaston Williams won awards for his Greater Tuna play and is sublime in this role. Now in its 80th season, Zach is Texas’ longest running theatre company. Since 1932, they have been bringing Austin quality productions to almost 100,000 people every year. With the new Topfer Theatre, they have expanded their reach and will connect with even more people this year. TRU is just the beginning of a new fantastic year at Zach Theatre.
