The Lemon Ball To Support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation In Philadelphia

On Saturday, January 12, 2013, yellow décor and individuals dressed in yellowish hues will fill the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, all to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation at the 2013 Lemon Ball gala. Attendees get to show off their best “yellow tie” ensembles and mix and mingle with others who support this excellent organization. Lemon Ball attendees will find the evening to be an unforgettable one. Guests will start the night off with elegant cocktails and then move on to enjoy dinner, dessert, silent and live auctions, dancing and more. Throughout the night, guest speakers and honorees will deliver inspiring speeches, all in keeping with the initial sentiment offered by Alexandra “Alex” Scott back in 2000 when she started her first lemonade stand. Alex’s parents, Liz and Jay Scott, will be in attendance as will 2013 Lemon Ball honorees including the Alex Scott Crystal Cup honorees Jeff Benjamin, Jeff Michaud and Marc Vetri (Vetri Family Restaurants), Stand Hosts of the Year honoree the Smith family, and Volunteers of the Year honorees Paige and Mark Walsh.

Alexandra Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, shortly prior to her first birthday. Soon after turning four, Alex had a stem cell transplant and told her mother that when she was out of the hospital she would like to hold a lemonade stand so that she could give money to doctors to help other children with cancer like the doctors had helped her. This was the start of Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the impetus for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. At the age of eight, Alex lost her battle with cancer, but her vision, love and desire to help children with cancer lived on. To this day, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is working wonders to raise money and increase awareness in the fight against childhood cancer.

The 2013 Lemon Ball will be a fundraising event which will gather individuals together to realize Alex’s vision and raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation while allowing attendees to enjoy a night filled with inspirational speeches, excellent cuisine and camaraderie with others who support this wonderful cause.
