Are you uncertain on what to do with your home for the holidays? We know it can be a daunting task , and looks like HGTV has come to the rescue. In this special edition of Celebrity Holiday Homes, three celebrities get their homes decorated for the holidays – by three Design Star Winners! The first special begins tonight with Design Star winner Danielle Colding helping gospel and R&B singer Bebe Winans spice up his home. Danielle was kind enough to share a few secrets from tonights show.

Q: Danielle I have seen a sneak peek at what you did for Bebe Winan’s, and it looks like you designed lots of money saving projects to dress up his home. You are so talented. Could you share a DIY project for our readers from Bebe’s house?

A: Okay, but don’t tell too many people as we don’t want to spoil the surprise for tonights reveal. One of the most stunning elements in my design for Bebe Winan’s house was the kissing balls hanging in his dining room. The idea was to create a magical room with hanging balls made of flowers that resembled snowballs. In order to achieve the dramatic look I wanted I bought some hydrangea kissing balls pre-made and then bought a few supplies to make my own in a different sizes.

Hydrangea Kissing Balls from Designer Star Winner Danielle Colding

You’ll Need:

Styrofoam balls- available at any craft store. Get a variety of sizes for visual interest.

Satin Ribbon

Pins with bead a one end

Artificial flowers- magnolias or hydrangeas are ideal

3M non-stick, removable hooks

How-To Steps

Cut a long piece of ribbon, fold in half and put the center of the ribbon at the bottom of the styrofoam ball. Make sure ribbon is long enough to wrap around the ball and to hang from the ceiling.

Use the beaded pins to attach the ribbon around the bottom of the styrofoam ball and tie in a knot at the top. Make sure you have left enough ribbon to hang the ball from the ceiling.

Using beaded pins begin pinning artificial flowers directly onto the ball. Make sure and place flowers close to one another so that none of the styrofoam shows.

Attach non-stick, adhesive hooks directly to ceiling.

Tie the ribbon in a knot at the desired length and hang directly on the hook.

Repeat and hang balls at varying lengths for the greatest impact.
