Miss A Columnist

Truly Gil is an NFL Cheerleader with a taste for fine dining, an eye for fashion, and an ear on the town. This Jersey girl turned Washington, DC maven, knows what’s hot and what’s not. From entertaining a stadium full of fans, to strutting down narrow catwalks, to jumping out of perfectly good airplanes (with a parachute of course), Truly has done it all. She feels right at home in the DMV area, surrounded by beautiful people and beautiful places, and she loves to speak her mind about all things DC. Truly enjoys writing about beauty, fashion, and local events. With dance moves that won’t quit, and a personality to match, Truly makes an exciting addition to the Miss A Team.

With multiple commercials, press, and publicity, there has been a lot of built up hype about Neiman Marcus joining forces with Target for the holidays. With previous designer collaborations with Target, this Holiday Collection with Neiman is different in that it consists of 24 top designers and over 50 gifts. These gifts range from clothing and accessories to luggage and skateboards.

For those fashionistas on a budget, the prospect of the Neiman Marcus-Target collaboration was the answer to their holiday shopping needs. Creations by top designers including Tory Burch, Brian Atwood, Alice + Olivia, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Dian von Furstenberg, and Jason Wu were highly anticipated.

However, was it all hype and anticipation with no delivery? Although we love the designers and select pieces from the joint Holiday Collection, the prices are not what you would expect. Many of the items are much less than what the designs would originally cost, but some pieces are still expensive, like this Alice + Olivia bike which would set a consumer back a cool $500.

However, there are a few gems in the collection like these Brian Atwood Studded Leather Gloves for a  reasonable $50.

Whether you think this collaboration is hip or all hype, shopping the collection will produce some definite good. Target and Neiman Marcus will donate $1 million to the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

If you want to check out their Holiday Collection in person, head over to your local Target. The merchandise will only be available for a limited time and will go quickly, so head shopping sooner rather than later.
