Recap: Carson Kressley’s Holiday Preview At Home Goods On Michigan Avenue In Chicago

On November 29th, above the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season on Michigan Avenue, Home Goods hosted their 2012 Holiday Preview in what can only be described as the oasis of gift giving. Carson Kressley, of “Queer Eye” and DWTS fame, was on hand to provide his top holiday picks.

Bloggers from all over Chicago mingled and enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres while Carson divulged his holiday favorites from a range of gifting categories that are sure to cover everyone on your list. From the “difficult to buy for” to “gifts for the host”,  Home Goods should be number one on your list of must stop places for the holiday season.

While you’re there, be sure to check out HomeGoods “gifts that give back”. Revenue generated from a number of HomeGoods cutest holiday gifts (pictured) will benefit St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or the US Fund for UNICEF.

Carson also dished on his favorite holiday advice. While attending a festive celebration, it is often tempting to bring a bottle of wine. Surprisingly, Carson counts this among his many yuletide faux pas. “Frankly, if you bring a bottle of wine, I drink it and I forget it… one probably causes the other,” he joked.

What does Carson favor in place of the traditional bottle of wine host gift? His suggestions included a candle, a throw blanket, a serving dish, or one of his favorites a natural wood cheese tray and serving set (pictured).

The evening ended with Carson presenting specially selected gifts to each attendee. See me (pictured) receiving a Houdini bottle opener and wine glasses!
