Lindsay Torrico is a policy wonk passionate about politics, arts and culture and volunteering. Currently, she works at United Way Worldwide, the nation's largest privately funded charity, and is responsible for the organization’s federal advocacy on education. With experience working on Capitol Hill and consulting for non-profit organizations, she loves to support and advocate for education causes and children’s issues. She has volunteered for such organizations as Higher Achievement, Everybody Wins! DC, Hoop Dreams and Hope Worldwide. When she’s not networking at receptions and attending charitable and political events in Washington, DC, Lindsay enjoys making and customizing accessories for her etsy shop, Freshly Brewed Boutique. A native of Philadelphia, she received her BA in Government from the University of Virginia and her Masters in Public Policy from UCLA.

Artfête Open House And Holiday Party To Benefit The Art League In Alexandria, Virginia

The Art Leagues annual weekend open house and holiday party, Artfête, celebrates the official reopening of the newly expanded Madison Annex. All are welcome to attend this event and tour the renovated space, which now holds the majority of the League’s 2D and 3D classes.

As in past years, the weekend’s festivities features an exhibit of instructor artwork, artist demos, live music from Orquesta Tropikiimba, a live steamroller printing and the highly anticipated Ceramic and Jewelry sales. Attendees will also enjoy a wearable art runway show and food and drinks provided by Chadwick’s and Lavender Moon Cupcakery.

The Art League’s Holiday Jewelry Sale during Artfête weekend features handmade jewelry created by Art League students and teachers. This sale showcases a variety of metal-work based on the techniques taught in Art League Classes. The ceramics sale is one of the highlights of Artête weekend, showcasing works by more than 35 artists.

These affordable and unique handmade creations are perfect for holiday gift giving. On Black Friday (Friday, November 23) The Art League is offering 10% off on all purchases in The Art League Gallery between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
