There are seasoned artist as well as new emerging artist displaying wearable art, furniture, ceramics, jewelry, leather, and baskets anything that will intrigue your artistic side.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft show began in 1977 as was one of the first craft shows of its time, lead by a group of volunteers for a non proft institution. Since then it has been  presented every November and has be the
prototype of other shows similar to it around the country. It has 195 craftsmen each year that are selected by a jury which is a highly photo credit: www.pmacraftshow.comcompetitive process. Another unique aspect  the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show has been establishment of the Award for Distinguished Achievement in American Craft, which helps individuals who create craft feel validated and it promotes their creative materials.

The event was a mix of everything creative and amusing to view. I wondered and ask many artist what was their inspiration for there pieces. To be in a an area full of creative minds puts you in a creative mood as well. I enjoyed Maria Eife Jewelry which was very creative earrings and necklaces made from fiber. I also enjoyed Geoffrey Giles take on an engagement ring and band set it was so unique of anything I have seen and yet so elegant.

I always enjoy unique pieces for my home because when you are doing interior decorating in your home in a chain store you often find the same thing over and over but it is always great to find something no one else will have that why I especially enjoy wall art and furniture in this show. Jeanne Petrosky was especially different with the paper wall art the vibrant color are what drew me in. Micheal F. Route had art movement steel work table and that I really liked. Overall this show had something for everyone I thoroughly enjoyed and I will be back next year and I hope you will join me.
