On October 13 The Seany Foundation held it’s fifth annual Everything is Possible Celebration at the Del Mar Country Club. Over 100 people attended the event which raised over $100,000. The Seany Foundation has now raised over $1 million dollars since its inception in 2007.
All of the funding for The Seany Foundation benefits childhood cancer awareness and research. It was named after the founder, Sean Robins, who passed away in 2006 after a hard fought seven-year battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer. Sean was an eternal optimist whose attitude was summed up in a quote he would often recite, “When nothing is certain, everything is possible.”
Sean began the foundation after being diagnosed with cancer and realizing how little of cancer research funding is allocated for childhood cancers. He also brought light to the fact that kids with cancer who spend a great majority of their time in the hospital had little to no “normal” activities. The Seany Room was created at Rady Children’s Hospital as a way to bring a sense of normalcy to kids’ lives. With TVs, video games and a bright atmosphere, this was just another way that this incredible individual changed his reality.
Congratulations to the Seany Foundation and the Robins family for your hard-earned success!
