This past Sunday, October 28, was the anniversary of the Volstead Act becoming law and marked the start of Prohibition Days at LA Weekly’s newly-named “Best Speakeasy,” Next Door Lounge. The series consists of new entertainment from Los Angeles’ hottest up-and-coming artists with a modern twist on the 1920s’ sound, bottle service tables, sassy bootlegged servers and special food and beverage offerings.
Prohibitions Days includes the new “Prescription for Prohibition” Sundays, off-the-menu drink and food specials and surprise entertainment performances. Adding further authenticity to Prohibition Days, Next Door Lounge will also offer its very own batch of moonshine in collaboration with Hudson Whiskey.
Next Door Lounge would not have earned its speakeasy credibility without some sense of secrecy, so patrons are encouraged to visit the Next Door Lounge Facebook and Twitter pages to learn more. The six-week series ends with a “bang” on National Repeal Day, December 5. Just like the days of prohibition, supplies are limited and may not last until December 5.
