Postponed: Diaspora Community Services’ Annual Fall Fete Fundraiser

Update: Due to Hurricane Sandy, the Fete Fundraiser has been postponed. Please stay tuned for more details and a new event date.

Although there are multiple organizations that are dedicated to causes around the world, some of the best causes are usually the ones that strike close to home and work in improving the communities around you. Like the Diaspora Community Services group for example, which helps support immigrants living in Brooklyn by giving them health education, counseling and other related services.

Founded in 1981, DCS was then known as the Haitian Women Program and has immensely helped immigrant communities in the city settle into their new environment and build good lives for themselves and has served as a helping hand to all the immigrants in need of aid. In 2007, DCS expanded their helping hands to the realm of Haiti, where they opened and began operating the Centre Medico Sociale, a medical clinic that provides medical assistance to one of the most underprivileged areas of Port-au-Prince.

In order to fund all of DCS’s efforts, they will be opening their doors to the citizens of New York on November 14, to host their annual Fall Fete fundraiser, which is set to be full of interesting and exciting activities. It will be a casino-themed night that will also include a silent auction and delicious food and drinks. The honoree of this year’s Fall Fete will be Soles4Souls, an organization that works to eradicate poverty.
