Mile High United Way’s Turkey Trot Run/Walk In Denver

A Denver Thanksgiving tradition and one of the most successful four mile run/walk, Mile High United Way’s Turkey Trot attracts more than 10,000 people from all over the nation to benefit the Denver community in programs such as School Readiness, Youth Success and Adult Self-Sufficiency. Although the spirit of helping the community is strong in Denverites, the Turkey Trot is an absolute blast and also an excuse for people to dress in costumes as a bacon, a clown and of course, a turkey.

Presented by Bellco Credit Union, the 39th Annual Turkey Trot will be held on November 22 in the Wash Park neighborhood starting right by South High School. Avid runners or anyone who wants to challenge themselves can do the four mile run. If you have small children, pets or just prefer a nice stroll, then the 1/4 mile family fun run would be the perfect choice.

Early registration can be found in four locations: Runners Roost Denver, Runners Roost Lakewood, Boulder Running Company Greenwood Village and online at UnitedWayDenver.org. Everyone who registers will receive a long sleeve t-shirt, bib with timing tag and access to the post race expo, which includes a beer garden and many more other vendors. Find more information about registration here.

You are encouraged to create a team and it’s plenty of fun to do so, but you can definitely create a solo team and have family and friends sponsor your run, or even create a fundraising campaign with a special webpage dedicated to your goal. For every $125 raised, your name will be entered into a drawing for two round trip tickets on JetBlue or a $500 gas card from Suncor Energy (four gas cards available to win).

On race day, registration and corrals will open at 8:15 a.m. The first corral will begin at 10:15 a.m. and the family fun run will start at 11 a.m.

A perfect event for friends, family, co-workers, children, pets and visitors, you’ll find participants of fifteen years to newbies joining the tradition to raise funds and, most definitely, have a grand ol’ time. In addition, Bellco and the Food Bank will be collecting food items and toiletries at the day of the event for people in need this holiday season.

Invite you friends and family from out of town and join the tradition to give back to the community!
