Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Toast To Wishes Benefit At Lavo In NYC

The third annual Wish NYC: A Toast to Wishes Benefit will be held at Lavo on November 15 from 7-10 p.m.. This fun event is to raise funds and awareness among the younger generation in support of Make-A-Wish Metro New York and West New York chapter. There will be a red carpet entrance, music by top NYC DJs, a top shelf open bar, hors d’oeuvres and an auction with many great prizes.

Make-A-Wish was established in 1980 and gives hope, strength and joy to children with life threatening medical conditions by granting their wishes. The first annual Wish NYC was held at 1 Oak and raised $45,000. Last year’s event at Lavo raised $175,000, which is more than triple the amount of the first year, so it is this year’s goal to raise $250,000. Considering next to nothing is spent on the actual event, you can count on your money going a long way in making a child happy. Taking approximately $7,500 to execute a wish, this year’s event is expected to grant at least 33 wishes.

The wishes that are granted will be for children who live in the New York metro and western areas; however, the chapter will facilitate a child’s wish to come to New York. For example, Make -A-Wish Italy raised the funds for a child whose wish was to eat a hot-dog in Central Park, and the New York chapter assisted with logistics and arrangements. They provide volunteer and staff support when the child’s wish from another chapter takes place in New York. That works the same way throughout the organization, and it is called “Wish assists.” The New York chapter handles about 250+ of them per year! This is because New York is such a popular wish-travel destination, and many celebrities offer to grant wishes here.

The benefit has gained recognition over the past few years and has now grown into one of the most popular events of the year. The after party will then be held at Riff Raff’s and is open to those who purchase a VIP ticket. It will include an open bar and reserved space from 10:30pm-12:30am. Be sure to get your VIP tickets right away, because the general admission tickets have already sold out! You can also purchase raffle tickets in advance. The VIP tickets include regular admission to the party as well as the after party and are 90% tax deductible, so they are a very good deal!
