Grotesque and Arabesque: Poe Retold
Weird City Theatre is putting on the world premiere of five adaptations of Poe’s most sinister works. The performance takes a new look at old classics and weaves together film and live theatre to produce well known stories like The Tell-Tale Heart, Masque of the Red Death, Cask of Amontillado, Hop Frog and The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar.

An Austin original and favorite to many, Scare for a Cure is back for its 6th year. Since 2007, the all volunteer staff at this non-profit have worked tirelessly to scare participants and raise funds for the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas. Although kids are allowed, many will find it too frightening as the adventure is geared toward teens and adults. The experience is an “extreme haunted house” meaning participants will not only be frightened, but also have to to walk, run, crawl and generally get dirty while making their way through. For an extra intense experience, consider buying Red Level tickets.

Last year, Miss A covered this amazing Halloween-themed party. Goodwill Industries of Central Texas is back again with Mr. Dark’s Carnival as their theme. Blue Finger Disco will be providing the entertainment for the festivities this year and, as always, attendees are encouraged to dress in their best costume to round out the night.

The Highball is back with another Halloween event to be remembered. This year, the space will be decorated as Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory. The night will include music, a photo booth by Annie Ray and a costume contest with a $100 prize for the winner.

Local businesses and Davis Management & Production Team collaborate to bring Austin a Halloween night event in Monster Ball. It will be a party and ball filled with entertainment held by The American Legion in Austin and benefiting breast cancer research.

Halloween Thriller Dance Party
Ballet Austin is giving all of us the chance to learn the iconic Thriller dance in style. On the October 31, Austinites will have one hour to spend with Kody Jauron to perfect their Michael Jackson style. Participants can wear their costumes and even practice beforehand with an online video in preparation for the night.
