Back In Brack Event To Benefit University Medical Center Brackenridge

Dig deep into your closet or hit your local thrift stores to find those stained-washed jeans, neon-colored shirts, tacky jewelry and of course, giant bottles of hairspray for this year’s inaugural fundraising event organized by Seton’s ‘The Fifty.’ This year’s Back in Brack is ’80s-themed party to commemorate the hospital’s last remodel in the 1980s. The event will benefit technology for complex care at University Medical Center Brackenridge.

Established in the 1880s, Brackenridge was the first public hospital in Texas. Brackenridge is now the only adult Level I Trauma Center in Central Texas and is the headquarters for academic medicine in our area.

The Back in Brack Gala promises to provide an incredibly exciting and ghastly time as guests at the gala will be dressed in either all black or in costumes inspired by the half-hazard fashions of the ’80s!

Guests will indulge in food by East Side King with a specially designed menu by Top Chef winner 2012, Paul Qui and sweet treats by Tiff’s Treats. Guests will dance to ’80s music by DJ-Mel, take pictures to capture the cool costumes for years to come in a photo booth by Alison Narro Photography and there will even be an ’80s arcade!  And to end the night right, complimentary cab rides by Yellow Cab Austin to help everyone arrive home safely.

A large amount of passion has gone into organizing this gala to benefit the hospital and in turn help people stay healthier and create more jobs for our local community. The passion and dedication comes from The Fifty which is a new group established to support the future of medical care in Central Texas. This elite group of emerging leaders’ “primary responsibility is to advocate for UMCB and academic medicine while engaging others in the community to do the same.”
