“You can choose your sin, but you cannot choose your consequences…”
If Emmy Award winning investigative reporter and bestselling mystery author Hank Phillippi Ryan’s newest political thriller, The Other Woman is a sin then I would rather be bad. And, lucky for me, I’m not alone.
On Tuesday, October 9 mystery lovers and loyal fans gathered at Newtonville Books in Newton, Mass. to meet and celebrate the launch of Ryan’s eagerly anticipated new book, The Other Woman. As she shared a few pages from her book, Ryan’s years as both a reporter and mystery enthusiast came together in what read as a seamless blend of fact and fiction, with characters that feel real and the plot, chillingly possible.
After teasing listeners with an excerpt, a warm-hearted Ryan happily signed copies, chatted with fans and answered personal and career questions.
The twisted political thriller centers on Jane Reynolds, a young Boston News investigative reporter, who is determined to uncover the smoldering infidelities surrounding a Senatorial candidate and his mistress. Little does she know that there is more to this story than unveiling the other woman as murder, revenge and unexpected partnerships test just how far she will go to get what she wants: the truth.
There’s no mystery here, Hank Phillippi Ryan’s latest book is nothing short of wonderful.
Adding to the allure of the launch party was the charming Newtonville Bookstore. The ambiance, as well as friendly staff, represent a pleasant pre-Wi-Fi throwback to what a book store used to be. And though small, it is the stone walls, leather arm chairs atop classic throw rugs and the rows of books that make this store feel magical.
Introduce yourself to The Other Woman and, if you can, treat yourself to a meeting with Hank herself.
