Champagne & Diamonds Gala Benefiting Sense Of Security In Denver

Breast cancer is a subject too familiar to many of us. A stressful matter that has affected individuals and communities, many of us have family members, friends, acquaintances – and even ourselves – that have gone through the unfortunate circumstance.

One quiet, but imminent, fact is the financial burden an individual and her family can go through. An expected expense such as paying rent, utilities, transportation needs or groceries can become difficult to afford and many have to choose between paying for prescription drugs or groceries.

Sense of Security understands the needs and is extremely proactive in the matter.

For over 10 years, Sense of Security, a local non-profit, has “served more than 850 [Colorado] breast cancer patients while in treatment by providing over $1.4 million towards housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, COBRA or insurance premiums and other basic living expenses.” They found that many patients need the most help in housing and groceries, which are two of the most essential needs to survive.

The idea came from a dear friend of Sense of Security who, in the midst of treatment for her second diagnosis of breast cancer, explained that she no longer has any money for her living expenses for at least a 12-week period. With the help of her friends and family, she was able to keep her house and have a “sense of security” throughout her treatment. Although she lost her battle, her spirit lives on. Hence, the non-profit was born.

Over the years, there have been many note-worthy sponsors and contributors that have helped Sense of Security’s mission, unfortunately one major sponsor is unable to support their mission this year but we, as a community, can still help.

On October 20, join Sense of Security’s Champagne and Diamonds gala fundraising event at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Raise funds and enjoy a festive evening of cocktails, champagne, silent and live auctions, dinner with wine and a giveaway of a stunning diamond ring, valued at more than $9,000. Dancing will ensue where it is almost a must, but not necessary.

Be a part of the mission and give the gift of essentials!
