Lindsay Torrico is a policy wonk passionate about politics, arts and culture and volunteering. Currently, she works at United Way Worldwide, the nation's largest privately funded charity, and is responsible for the organization’s federal advocacy on education. With experience working on Capitol Hill and consulting for non-profit organizations, she loves to support and advocate for education causes and children’s issues. She has volunteered for such organizations as Higher Achievement, Everybody Wins! DC, Hoop Dreams and Hope Worldwide. When she’s not networking at receptions and attending charitable and political events in Washington, DC, Lindsay enjoys making and customizing accessories for her etsy shop, Freshly Brewed Boutique. A native of Philadelphia, she received her BA in Government from the University of Virginia and her Masters in Public Policy from UCLA. Acumen Solutions Hosts 4th Annual Race For A Cause 8K In Arlington, VA

Acumen Solutions will host the fourth annual Acumen Solutions Race for a CauseTM 8K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday, October 14 in Arlington, Va. Inaugurated in November 2009, the race is a wonderful opportunity to support many of the organizations in Acumen Solutions nonprofit portfolio.

Through their race registration selection, participants help secure funds for 10 local Superheroes – non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the local community. Last year’s Race for a Cause boasted 3000+ participants with a resulting $125,000 in charitable contributions distributed to 10 DC-area nonprofit organizations.

This event increases visibility in each of the sponsored nonprofit organization areas, expands their network of supporters and provides much needed financial support to their operation. Each race participant will be able to select the local non-profit of choice to receive support, including:

This year’s race will feature Biggest Loser” contestant Sione Fa and will also include a “First Timers” group to encourage individuals who may not think they can physically handle such an event. At the end of the race, there will be activities and food for children, including life-sized cutouts of favorite superheroes and raffle prizes.

Fun Run starts at 8:05 a.m.

WHERE:
The race will be on a fast out-and-back, flat course that begins and ends on North Quincy Street – near the intersection of Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA.

8kRace Fees: $35 through Packet Pickup October 13th, $40 Race Day
Fun Run Fees: $35 Adult (with 8K race shirt), $20 Youth (with special gift!)
