Acumen Solutions will host the fourth annual Acumen Solutions Race for a CauseTM 8K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday, October 14 in Arlington, Va. Inaugurated in November 2009, the race is a wonderful opportunity to support many of the organizations in Acumen Solutions nonprofit portfolio.
Through their race registration selection, participants help secure funds for 10 local Superheroes – non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the local community. Last year’s Race for a Cause boasted 3000+ participants with a resulting $125,000 in charitable contributions distributed to 10 DC-area nonprofit organizations.
This event increases visibility in each of the sponsored nonprofit organization areas, expands their network of supporters and provides much needed financial support to their operation. Each race participant will be able to select the local non-profit of choice to receive support, including:
- Boys & Girls Club – Alexandria-Olympic & Fairfax
- Education Pioneers
- For Love of Children
- Greenbrier Learning Center
- Literacy Council of Northern Virginia
- Our Daily Bread
- The Reading Connection
- The Women’s Center
- United for D.C.
- Young Playwrights’ Theater
This year’s race will feature “Biggest Loser” contestant Sione Fa and will also include a “First Timers” group to encourage individuals who may not think they can physically handle such an event. At the end of the race, there will be activities and food for children, including life-sized cutouts of favorite superheroes and raffle prizes.
