Autumn is upon us, ladies, and it’s time to enrich your polish pallets with funky colors, unique textures and dazzling shapes. Riveting nail art rocked the runways of New York’s Fashion Week as top designers opted to feature mesmeric nail creations to accompany their pieces.
Infamous Glam designers The Blonds and Joy Cioci showcased a new spin on the Caviar manicure. Instead of engulfing the nails in the fabulous pearls, the designers used a basic base color and intricately placed the micro-pearls down the center of the nail and around the base and tip. Retail stores like Sephora offer a variety of Ciate’ Caviar manicure kits, so every girl can add a bit of the runway to her world.
While Jeremy Scott accented his line with 3D nail stickers resembling colorful candy buttons, Nicole Miller’s models dazzled the crowd with their Psychedelic hand designed swirl manis. Designer Rachel Antonoff paired her sporty chic ensembles with stunning renditions of floral print and metallic marble nail art. Oval shaped nails rocked the runway as well this season, adorning neutral colors like beige, mauve and the infamous nude.
Also spotted during NYFW were combinations of matte and shiny nail polishes creating a layered look as well as textured nails resembling furry sweaters and smooth velvet.
Although a trip to the spa is ideal, busy schedules or taut budgets don’t always allow such luxuries. However, don’t throw in the towel just yet; nail polish entities such as Sally Hansen, Zoya and Essie have all created nail systems that feature vivid nail colors, adhesive nail art and minerals used for texturing. In addition, OPI has released a customizable nail kit that allows the lacquered obsessed to perform gel manicures at home. The system can be purchased at Sephora starting at $159.00. Retailers such as Target, Sephora and Ulta offer an array of these products that will aid any fashionista with her quest to transform her ordinary digits into statement pieces.
