Founded by Gina Grant, a seasoned entrepreneur and former publicist, Women That Soar (WTS) reaches and unites a diverse group of women who are comprised of professionals, taste-makers and trendsetters with the focus of empowerment and inspiration. A leader in her industry, she knows all to well the challenges of building and creating positive media as she has represented top athletes, entertainers and corporate executives, all while balancing the roles of wife and mother.
The WTS Awards, launched in 2007, honors women for their personal and professional journeys to success. This year, this one-of-a-kind event will be televised on CBS 11 and TXA 21 to educate and inspire a broader audience. The WTS Awards Show will be a powerful evening honoring women in seven distinct fields of human endeavors comprised of the following categories: entertainment, sports, business, fashion, arts, philanthropy and civic awareness, to include a Legacy and Life Time Achievement Award. WTS encourages women to build partnerships and alliances that will help them on their path to success.
Not just another award show, it will truly be a celebration of the accomplishments of women, further empowering and inspiring them to soar and live brilliant lives. The WTS Awards will provide a platform to honor the compelling stories of women who’ve overcome both personal and professional trials, and are now soaring and inspiring other women. Some of the 2012, Women That Soar honorees and unsung heroes include: Joann Herring, Sheriff Lupe Valdez, Mina Chang, Yvonne Crum, Tomoyo Nonaka, Dina Dwyer-Owens, Katrina McGhee, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, Dorinth Doherty, Debbie Branson, Cathy Veith, Maggie Sova and many others.
The evening will commence with red carpet interviews conducted by CBS 11 Entertainment Reporter Sandie Newton, along with a star-studded cast and incredible unsung heroes. It will be a combination of incredible entertainment, compelling accomplishments and powerful vignettes telling the stories of amazing women.
“It was my goal when creating the awards show to see it televised. Honoring women from diverse communities and backgrounds for their personal and professional accomplishments has always been my dream,” said Gina. ”Our theme this year is BELIEVE! The journey we as women have traveled has not been easy. Yet, it is our courage and belief in ourselves and one another that has brought us to where we are in society. I want all women to BELIEVE they can Soar!”
The WTS Awards will bring legendary female artists together with powerful musical performances on one stage for one night with one goal: To empower, inspire, honor and celebrate the accomplishments of women. The WTS Awards provide real answers to the everyday challenges of women while celebrating each woman’s journey.
Gina’s ultimate goal for WTS was to be a catalyst for change and accelerating progress towards positive media content, while building and managing products that educate, empower, and enhance the personal, professional and lifestyle growth of today’s woman. WTS supports local and national charities that provide assistance and resources that help empower and advance the growth of women.
