As October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, Redbook magazine is launching a campaign in partnership with Soma Intimates to help raise awareness of domestic violence in the United States. It is called “What Freedom Feels Like” and to open up the dialogue, Redbook is asking readers to share their stories or the stories of someone they know with other readers.
In addition to real women who are opening up to share their stories dealing with domestic violence, a number of celebrities are lending their voice to the cause including Tiffani Amber Thiessen, Wendy Williams, Jillian Michaels, Joan and Melissa Rivers, Sasha Alexander, Tabatha Coffey and Redbook Editor in Chief Jill Herzig.
Did you know that one in four women is subject to domestic violence? Or that it takes a woman an average of seven times to leave an abusive relationship? Domestic violence is a serious problem and is something that needs to be addressed. Like Wendy Williams says in her video, “Love is supposed to make you feel empowered” not scared. Thank you Redbook for shedding some light on this very important issue.
