Recap: Ariel Dance Theatre’s Geometry of Proximity At Austin’s Long Center

From its opening at the Rollins Studio Theatre, Andrea Ariel and Steve Ochoa’s dance performance, The Geometry of Proximity, takes one on a sequenced journey exploring the human condition of coupling and splintering, to a more universal consciousness. This original dance travels through interpretive movements representative of home and safety, leaving one’s comfort zone, pairing and the convoluted designs of relationship, stripping away material layers to discover the shadow self, purification and spiraling into the light toward self-awareness and the final flight home.

In this short performance, we gain perspective of our condition in the primordial soup soul memory of birth and rebirth as well as the interconnected web of things. Well worth your time and contemplation.

The Geometry of Proximity is a multi-media dance theatre work about transformation with music by Graham Reynolds and video by Colin Lowry.
