After taking a four-year hiatus, the 2012 Fashion of Goodwill definitely lived up to its theme, La Passione di Milano (The Passion of Milan) at the Italian Embassy. Washington’s chic and charitable all gathered to support the organization that provides teaching and employment for those in need. As Goodwill of Greater Washington‘s President and CEO Catherine Meloywelcomed guests before the show, she shared the stories of a few people who had received help from Goodwill and turned their lives around. When it was revealed they were seated in the audience, they received a standing ovation.
Former Miss DC Jennifer Corey kicked off the show with her operatic talents, singing beautifully as the models strutted their stuff down the runway sporting an array of fashions with everything from elegant gowns to office-chic skirt suits. The show, curated by Tu-anh, was completely furnished by items that had been donated to the Goodwill of Greater Washington. Meloy herself was donning some beautiful Goodwill evening wear that she was happy to boast to the audience was only $15.
Goodwill even set up a pop-up shop in the embassy to display some of their stylish, yet very affordable, clothes, shoes and handbags. Guests enjoyed perusing the racks for deals while sipping on wine and noshing on heavy hors d’oueurves. All of the proceeds from the shop will go towards opening a new Goodwill store and donation center.

Thank you for attending our event. We're glad you felt it was as powerful an evening as we did.
