Recap: Rock of Ages at the Long Center

Rock of Ages is playing through this Sunday, September 30th at the Long Center and the show certainly rocks!  The story focuses around the character of Sherrie who comes to Los Angeles in the late 80s looking to fulfill her dream and become an actress.

Sherrie meets Drew almost as soon as she gets off the bus, and he gets her a job at the bar he works at, the famous Bourbon Room, while she is pursuing her career dream.  As Drew and Sherrie start to grow their friendship, trouble is affront when German developers try to pay off the mayor to turn the Sunset Strip into a strip mall.

From losing sight of their dreams to losing each other for a little while, Sherrie and Drew have a whirlwind of classic 80s songs to overcome the strip mall potential tragedy.   Songs from bands including Asia, Journey, Night Ranger, Pat Benatar, Poison, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Twisted Sister and Whitesnake keep the dancers and singers in check and the audience really got into the vibe on quite a few songs!

The show has more of a night out on the town feel than a typical musical and is the perfect date night or activity to bring a group of girlfriends too.  The ending and grand song finale will definitely have you wanting to dance in the aisles!
