Tips For The Austin City Limits Music Festival

The Austin City Limits Music Festival is around the corner, and it’s time to start getting your game face ready. To appreciate the weekend to its fullest, put in a little time in advance to plan and prepare.

Bring a Water Bottle

Austin in October is still hot. One of the good things about ACL is that they will have CamelBak Filling Stations, so you can refill your own water bottle. Part of ACL’s Rock & Recycle, the water stations are aimed to help reduce waste. If you forget to bring a water bottle, you can purchase one from a vendor, then refill it throughout the weekend.

Ride a bike, walk or use public transportation

With any big event like this, you never want to count on parking at the venue, because you know it will be limited, if not non-existent. Austin knows this too. Two great ideas to getting around this problem, is to find a place to park near downtown or close to Zilker Park, and plan on walking or taking the bus. Capital Metro will also provide free shuttle service from Republic Square at the corner of 4th & Guadalupe. Lastly, Austin has pedi-cabs available that will be a great way to get back to your car after rocking out all day.

Pack lightly, but carry the essentials

While Austin is one of the most beautiful cities during the fall, it’s also probably one of the hottest. In your cross-body bag you’ll want to make sure you pack sunscreen, water bottles, Chapstick, a bandanna and sunglasses to help you get through the weekend. If you have a smartphone, you will want to bring that and be sure to download the Official ACL Festival app.

You will also want to bring plenty of cash, just in case you want to buy something at the festival or decide to take a pedi-cab ride back to your car.

Dress comfortably

Like any outdoor music festival, it is important to dress not just for the part, but for the weather too. Keeping in mind that it will be October in Austin, shorts, tanks, simple fall dresses are definitely the way to go. Also, shoes. With a rain or shine attitude that is ACL, you may want to break out those old pair of flip flops that are stuffed at the back of your closet.

Be sure to visit us next week. We’ll be featuring some cute styles for the weekend.
