The culinary event of the season is coming up–La Dolce Vita Food and Wine Festival on Thursday, October 11. Over 50 restaurants from all over the city will be in attendance and showcasing some of their favorite dishes.
The honorary chef for this year’s Festival is Executive Chef and Restaurateur Larry McGuire of Lamberts Downtown Barbeque, Perla’s Seafood and Oyster Bar, Elizabeth Street Café and Jeffrey’s Restaurant. As the face of the event, Chef McGuire will act as ‘advocate’ to his colleagues in the culinary and nightlife community.
The theme for this year’s festival is Lago di Como, one of the most picturesque lakes in Italy, and, therefore, the chefs participating will be bringing the lakeside bliss in their cultural creations throughout the magical evening. Restaurants participating include Clay Pit, Eleven Plates & Wines, Kenichi, Snack Bar, The Seedling Truck by Royal Fig, Whole Foods and Z’Tejas.
Not to be forgotten, cocktails will be a big part of the night as well. Handcrafted cocktails will be from Tipsy Texan David Allan and local wineries participating will include Becker Vineyards, Llano Estacado Winery and Pleasant Hill Winery.
La Dolce Vita benefits AMOA-Arthouse education programs. Last year’s event, Il Palio, a night in old Siena, raised funds for the monthly Second Saturday’s are for Families, Advanced Young Artists, Seeing Special Things and Club-A. The museum hopes to raise more than $100,000 this year.
