Dress for Success San Diego held its 2nd Annual Moonlight Chic: Rooftop Cocktails, Cuisine and Couture for a Cause event on September 19 atop the SummerSalt Rooftop Lounge at the Hotel Palomar Downtown.
The fashionable affair was a fundraiser for Dress for Success, an organization that seeks to provide aid for disadvantaged women seeking employment and economic self-sufficiency. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to furthering their cause.
With the picturesque cityscape views acting as the backdrop and the rhythmic beats of Daniela Spadaveccia and the Gypsy Trio acting as the soundtrack, guests mixed and mingled around the chic venue as they sipped wine and cocktails and noshed on delicious gourmet fare.
With their food and beverage needs met, attendees were free to peruse and bid on the vast array of silent auction items neatly displayed in an adjacent room–everything from two-night hotel stays and fine jewelry to passes to the Del Mar Turf Club and even an electric guitar were among the featured treasures.
Throughout the evening, guests were treated to complimentary chair massages courtesy of Bodhi Massage and Bodywork Center, while professionals from Bobbi Brown cosmetics were also on hand to provide free lip, cheek, and eye touch ups.
Later, the evening shifted from pampering to fashion as the event’s Emcee Pierre Charmasson directed everyone’s attention poolside before the anticipated Couture Events San Diego-produced designer fashion show began. Statuesque models looked stunning in hair and makeup by Bijou Beautiful and rocked designs from Vee by Veronica Scott, Stacie May, Isha Webb, Vocabulary Boutique, Designer Millinery, Mimi & Lu, The Little White Dress, and La Isla Jewelry. From hats to swimwear to stunning gowns, the runway show proved to be one of the highlights of the evening.
But for Executive Director Silvia McKinney and the President of the Board of Directors Lisa Schalon, the event was more than a simple evening filled with food, fashion, and fun. It was a fundraiser to benefit an organization that has become so near and dear to their hearts. “Moonlight Chic is an example of the teamwork that has made Dress for Success San Diego a positive force in our community for nearly 15 years,” said Lisa Schalon, President of the Board of Directors, “Every day we are inspired by our clients who have overcome tremendous adversity and uplifted by the generosity of friends and supporters who make it possible for us to further our mission.”
And with successful fundraisers like Moonlight Chic, Dress for Success will be equipped to further their mission for years to come.
