The California Wildlife Center held their 14th Annual Brunch Sunday, September 16 at the lavish Malibu Gull’s Way Estate. This is a very important brunch because they receive 80% of their funding from the auctions and sponsors who help host the event. Sponsors like Patron and Malibu Wines support the event along with many others who travel from across the country.
Alberto Parada, a high-end, eco-friendly jeweler, makes the trip from Washington, DC every year and has been doing so for the past five years. Vanessa Williams, Kyle Richards, Jenny McCarthy, and Milla Jovovich, among others, love his luxurious pieces. Alberto donates one high end piece to the Wildlife’s Center’s fundraising efforts and he feels great knowing he is helping care for these animals.
“When the time comes around for this event- I make it a point to make sure I’m there. I’ve been doing this for years and fly in just for this event and will continue to show my support as long as I can,” Parada said.
This past year the California Wildlife Center (CWC) took in 3,700 animals- they receive no money from the government and fund themselves by holding yearly events like these. Sunday’s guests who were in attendance got to see the release of a hawk- this has become a staple for the CWC to release an animal that they have been helping throughout the year. This was definitely a touching moment and something that makes these supporters return year after year.
