2nd Annual Art Of Giving Gala To Benefit American Diabetes Association

Diabetes is a calamitous disease that kills more people in the United States each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. This epidemic is steadily growing and it is predicted that as many as one in three children will develop diabetes in their lifetime.

However, there are actions we can take to decrease the spread of this disease. The American Diabetes Association is the oldest and most active organization that aggressively focuses on this disease. The American Diabetes Association raises awareness for the disease and focuses on children and adults with all types of diabetes and even helps those at risk for the disease to prevent it before it begins.

This September the American Diabetes Association Austin Chapter is hosting the 2nd Annual Art of Giving Gala which will be a night full of food, drink and musical entertainment by Dysfunction Junction.   Austin’s own Paul Brown, news anchor for YNN News, will emcee for the night.  I asked Paul why he is drawn to this organization and what his connection is to it.  Paul responded: “I’m really excited to be a part of the gala because I’ve seen over the years how involved the local chapter is in their outreach to the community.”  Paul went on to say that he has several family members who have delt with the disease and he is very appreciative of the work the organization does for the community.

The gala will raise awareness for this disease and raise funds that will fully go to benefiting the American Diabetes Association’s mission: “To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of those affected by the disease.”
