It can be tough to start exercising. Maybe you’ve taken a few months off, maybe you’re the queen of inconsistency, or maybe you just hate to exercise. You know it builds a healthy brain. You know how good it feels when you’re done. You love the feeling of muscles emerging, when the word “toned” seems all of a sudden possible. You love the endorphin-rush you get, and you really love the way it feels to be strong.
But you still don’t always do it. Whatever your reason, it’s hard for you. We’ve all been there! Especially for us busy types, (Is anyone not that type?) the excuses are endless, time is short
and it’s so much more fun to talk on the phone or enjoy your latte.
Here are three fun ways to add muscle tone, boost your mood, and improve your self-confidence. They’re fast, easy and totally do-able!
1) Jump for joy
Rebounders are mini adult trampolines. They are fantastic for overall toning, and they’re fun too! I have one next to my desk, and I bounce all the time. Rebounding is great for stimulating your lymph system, so it’s detoxifying. Overall, it gets a healthy grade A+ from Nutritional Style!
Best of all, it’s portable. You can shut your door, blast some tunes, and get bouncing! My favorite Rebounder is from Needak.
2) Walk it out
This means getting away from your laptop and getting moving, no matter what. Walking boosts your endorphins and gives you added vitamin D from the sun, which also helps with your overall energy and mood. Walking tones your legs and your core. Push your arms, box the air, and go for it!
3) Head to the net
So, you don’t even have time to leave your office to catch up on some exercise? Here are a few of my current favorite online workouts for the busiest of bees:
- Hit the Barre! Pay $15 a month for unlimited downloads of workout routines. The great news here is that they have both short and full length classes!
- Check out Yoga Glo, a must-visit site for all the yogis out there! They feature some of the best yoga instructors, all without leaving the house.
- P90X will kick your butt into shape with this strengthening, spare-no-effort training system.
- The Tracy Anderson Method is the workout method invented and named for Gwyneth Paltrow’s personal trainer, so you know it’s good. This method has a strong dance element to it, and it’s not for wimps!
