As fall begins its ambush on New York City, don’t miss out on one of September’s most legendary events: Fashion’s Night Out. Celebrating its fourth birthday, this year’s extravaganza is guaranteed to be unforgettable.
A global event that is funded by Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Fashion’s Night Out is an endeavor to try and get customers to buy more and help the fashion industry survive during the current harsh economic situation. The first Fashion’s Night Out took place in 2009, and ever since then has been a defining event for not only New York City, but also for cities in countries like Australia, Brazil, China, India, Portugal, South Korea and Turkey.
Some of this year’s highlight events will include a Passport to Milan event at Max Mara’s Upper East Side location, where Ma
ria Giulia Maramotti of Max Mara and Vensette’s Lauren Remington Platt welcome customers to savor some of New York City’s best and most renowned gelato from the gelateria Grom. The event will also include a chance to travel to Milan, Italy with a luxury travel-kit provided by the store.
BCBGMAXAZRIA at Saks Fifth Avenue is also hosting a series of special events, which include the opportunity to be styled by professionals, contests and perhaps even a celebrity or designer sighting.
But of course we know that Fashion’s Night Out is more than just the clothes. Prada Broadway is hosting a Fashion’s Night Out concert which will feature Brooklyn’s Chairlift duo. A portion of the sales from the FNO sales will support New Yorkers For Children. Also, Solange Knowles will be DJing at Diane Von Furstenberg’s Meatpacking District location, which will be equipped with food and drinks as well and Cyndi Lauper will be performing a free concert at Manolo Blahnik to promote her new musical Kinky Boots.
In support of what promises to be a fabulous night, the Empire State building will be lit up red and retail stores all over the city will be selling this year’s special Fashion’s Night Out collection. The unique collection is also available online. So raid your favorite stores and explore new ones this year and join a variety of celebrities, editors, designers, models and fashion fanatics for one of New York’s most amazing nights.
