Only in its third year, Musician’s Corner, a local program of the Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park in Nashville, Tenn., has quickly become a favorite Saturday afternoon pastime in the heart of Nashville. Bringing a unique and unmatched event to the musical community, it is cherished and respected among Nashvillians, who are now eagerly awaiting the fall season. After a brief break from the early summer season, the wait is finally over and the kick-off concert will be held on September 1, 2012, beginning at 3 p.m. The best part – IT’S FREE! (In fact the whole season is free, which is amazing!)
With just a hint of what fans can expect for the following weeks, the kick-off event will feature The Blind Boys of Alabama, Karen Elson, A Nashville Symphony Quartet, Jeremy Lister, Anthony Snape, The Carmonas and Chelsea Gill. Throughout the rest of the season, which goes through October 27, dozens of additional artists will take the stage including Sixpence None The Richer, Sam Bush, Regi Wooten & Friends, Ashley Cleveland, Matthew Perryman Jones, Phil Keaggy, The Farewell Drifters, Shannon Whitworth, Yarn, The SteelDrivers, Shannon Sanders and The Vespers and many more.
As always, on-site they will have the ever-popular beer and wine garden, the Mix 92.9 Kidsville area and several partners and sponsors, including the official Musician’s Corner Charity Partner, World Vision, a renowned humanitarian organization that battles poverty and injustice.
If sunshine and free live music are not quite enough to convince you to come out on September 1, then your mind should change with this: The Nashville Food Truck Association is holding the first-ever “Nashville Street Food Awards” in conjunction with the kick-off event!
On a typical Musician’s Corner afternoon, several of Nashville’s favorite local food trucks are always on-site serving everything from jambalaya to gourmet burgers and barbecue to homemade ice cream, snow cones and even cupcakes. With the “Nashville Street Food Awards” taking place, foodies are sure to be delighted as every food truck in town vies to be crowned the best in their food specialty or the “Best of the Best” if they top them all. With over twenty confirmed food truck participants so far, the competition will be fierce and stomachs will be satisfied as there is bound to be something for everyone.
Mark your calendars and take in some sunshine, fresh air, good food and good music for the soul on Saturday, September 1, 2012 and check out Musician’s Corner, you won’t be disappointed!
