Susan G. Komen for the Cure®‘s Honoring the Promise will take place on Friday, September 28 at The Kennedy Center. As a member of the event’s Corporate Committee, it is my sincere hope that you will join me in supporting Komen’s signature event, which brings together the heroes of the breast cancer movement for a once-in-a-lifetime evening of inspiration and world class entertainment. On this special night, Komen will honor those on the front-lines of the breast cancer fight with special awards of Lifetime Achievement, Medical and Scientific Research, Community and Global Leadership. Proceeds from the 2011 Honoring the Promise event raised nearly $2 million to support cutting-edge medical research as well as a major project in Southeast D.C.’s Wards 7 and 8, communities with the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the region. Proceeds from the 2012 event will continue to support efforts in community health and scientific research.

The event’s Founding Chair is David M. Rubenstein, Co-Founder of The Carlyle Group. American Idol winner and star of Sparkle Jordin Sparks will perform.
