Denver may host a smaller market than established fashion capitals like New York City or L.A., but that doesn’t mean we don’t pack a punch. Our city is lucky to claim local fashion designer and hair stylist Fallene Wells who’s taken Denver’s creative community by storm.
Having been featured on the insanely popular TV series Project Runway Season 9, Wells has proven herself a force to be reckoned with throughout the fashion industry. Using her influence to give back to her community, Wells helps promote local talent through her annual Forever Darling fashion show, highlighting Denver designers and small business owners. “I’m always looking for new ways to help the small business community in Denver,” Wells stated.
Wells recently used the help of Kickstarter, a website which raises money for creative projects, to fund her new fall clothing line, Modern Nouveau, which features 1930’s inspired styles with a contemporary twist for today’s modern woman. Collection pieces will include knicker trousers and a Charlie Chaplin inspired jacket.
“My collection, Modern Nouveau, is about creating fun vintage inspired layered pieces that can be mixed and matched to create endless outfits,” said Wells. “I’ve always been in love with the stylish disheveled look of the newsboy from the 30s, my starting inspiration for this collection.” The line will be launched in one week at the event Modern Nouveau: Fall Friperie.
Modern Nouveau pieces, along with other local designs, will be available for purchase and order during the event. Music will be provided by DJ Matthew Brown.
