Charleston’s own Luke Cunningham will be on the road with Donovan Frankenreiter this August in support of Frankenreiter’s latest album, “Start Livin’”.
Providing support for such popular acts as Frankenreiter is familiar territory for Cunningham as he has been on the road with the likes of The Fray, Gin Blossoms and Will Hoge. Cunningham’s music is a combination of storytelling with catchy rhythms that makes it understandably enjoyable for all ages. His latest album, “Heart Pressure”, ‘weaves the experiences, tribulations and uphill battles of this independent southern songwriter into an earnest narrative that’s bound to engage listeners and resonate with any music fan who still believes in the lost art of storytelling.’
“As a songwriter you can waste so much valuable time fretting about your career instead of what you’re creating,” Cunningham has said. “But some time ago I realized that if you focus more on your craft instead of your career, there’s a good chance the ‘career’ will turn out just fine.” This translates to me that he is someone who has come in to his own and is not writing just music, but something a whole lot more than that. Something personal. And for me, that is the main ingredient when I think of what makes a great musician.
