One of my favorite things to do in Atlanta is head to the Scott Antique Market on the second weekend of every month. The market consists of two gigantic warehouses that are over 366,000 square feet and filled with over 3300 booths with vendors from all over the United States.
You will find beautiful antique furniture, rustic folk art, outdoor decor, sterling silver, oriental rugs, various collectibles, antique linens, vintage jewelry, antique silverware and linens, old books and much more. It’s fun to go and peruse the aisles, even if you end up not purchasing anything. But I usually find something! In fact, I will go with a list, and odds are good I will find something there.
Plan to arrive early, as it does get crowded. Dealers and decorators will be there first, and it always amazes me how many items are marked “sold” early. On the other hand, the best deals to be had are on Sundays, when the vendors want to get rid of their inventory and like to make deals. But whether I’m there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, I almost always ask the question, “Can you do any better on this price?” They may be firm on a particular price, but it never hurts to ask, and they expect it. But, nine times out of ten, when I ask that question, the vendor will knock off a bit for me.
So whether you are an avid antique collector, an art buff, a fashionista looking for unique jewelry or a homeowner wanting interesting décor, I strongly suggest you head over to Scott Antique Market!
