Miss A Columnist

Cate Bogue lives in the suburbs of Atlanta and has been in the South her entire life. After attending the University of Florida and graduating from Georgia State University with a BA degree in Economics and a minor in English, Cate spent most of her career in banking and later recruiting for the financial industry. Now she does what she's really passionate about as she loves to plan for, shop for, prepare, eat and write/blog about really good food while exercising to offset the food obsession! Her passion is entertaining, whether it's a super casual family get-together, a tailgating extravaganza for 30 people or more at an SEC or ACC college football game, a more formal holiday cocktail party or anything and everything in-between. Married to her high school sweetheart, Cate has two grown kids.

Scott Antique Market In Atlanta

One of my favorite things to do in Atlanta is head to the Scott Antique Market on the second weekend of every month. The market consists of two gigantic warehouses that are over 366,000 square feet and filled with over 3300 booths with vendors from all over the United States.

You will find beautiful antique furniture, rustic folk art, outdoor decor, sterling silver, oriental rugs, various collectibles, antique linens, vintage jewelry, antique silverware and linens, old books and much more. It’s fun to go and peruse the aisles, even if you end up not purchasing anything. But I usually find something! In fact, I will go with a list, and odds are good I will find something there.

Plan to arrive early, as it does get crowded. Dealers and decorators will be there first, and it always amazes me how many items are marked “sold” early. On the other hand, the best deals to be had are on Sundays, when the vendors want to get rid of their inventory and like to make deals. But whether I’m there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, I almost always ask the question, “Can you do any better on this price?” They may be firm on a particular price, but it never hurts to ask, and they expect it. But, nine times out of ten, when I ask that question, the vendor will knock off a bit for me.

So whether you are an avid antique collector, an art buff, a fashionista looking for unique jewelry or a homeowner wanting interesting décor, I strongly suggest you head over to Scott Antique Market!
