Denver Playwright Melissa Faith Hart Breathes New Life Into Scarlet Letter The Musical

An ode to the American dream, local Playwright Melissa Faith Hart stops at nothing to achieve hers despite the odds stacked against her. Hart’s masterpiece, Scarlet Letter…The Musical” debuts at the PACE Event Center, September 13-16, 2012.

Hart is said to have googled how to get a show to Broadway about six years ago and the answer was “STOP! Either you’re crazy or you are born to do this and you know of no other possible road in your life…” Luckily for Hart, she is both. A wonder woman of sorts – single mom, business executive, entrepreneur, musician and playwright – she has her eyes set on bright lights.

Wonder how she keeps it all together? A chance meeting at a local concert put me in touch with this lovely songstress over a year ago and I pondered the same question. True to form, her instant vivaciousness, tenacity for life and unparalleled humor clued me into the fact that Hart is a genuine artist, and unstoppable. Trust me, the woman has energy for days. I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the musical in the making one evening as she graciously hosted me for dinner at her home.  Awestruck by the power in her lyrics and fluidness of the melody, I noticed the songs and storyline were as much a part of her as she to them.

Directed by renowned Wayne Kennedy and orchestrated by Broadway veteran Mitch Samu, you are sure to get lost in Hart’s interpretation of puritan Boston circa 1642. Hawthorne’s classic tale comes to life as edge of your seat drama captures the themes of cultural indifference, religion, repression and unrequited love. “Scarlet Letter became an obvious choice to communicate a story of grace through failure, and nothing speaks louder to the soul than music…if an encouraging phrase married to a beautiful melody inspires human growth in one soul, then I have fulfilled my life’s purpose with this musical,” gleams Hart. Be one of the first to see a future Broadway star’s early beginnings. Tickets on sale now!
