Do you have that urge to help others but you do not know how? Do you only have a couple minutes of free time during the week? You can still volunteer from the comfort of your own home and it only takes a couple of minutes every week.
If you are interested, consider becoming an E-Buddy. E-Buddies is a newer section of Best Buddies, a non-profit organization that matches every volunteer up with a person who has a disability. Every week you meet up with that person, spend a couple of hours with them and over time you become their mentor. However, if you are like me and do not have the time to meet with someone consistently every week, you can become an E-Buddy.
By becoming an E-Buddy you virtually mentor a child or adult with disabilities. Become that person’s pen pal! Make their day a little brighter by taking a couple minutes to send them an email. I have been an E-Buddy for over a year now and I honestly cannot imagine not doing it. I look forward to the emails that my Buddy sends me. It really has been a great experience to be an E-Buddy.
When I first signed up to be an E-Buddy I was a little hesitant because I was not sure exactly what to expect. But once I started emailing my Buddy and getting replies from her, all of my anxiety disappeared. Our relationship has grown so much over the past year and even though we live on opposite sides of the country and have never met, I am happy to call her my friend.
They are always looking for more E-Buddies so apply online if you have a couple minutes to spare! If your experience is anything like mine, it will benefit you just as much as it benefits your Buddy.
