Meera Rajagopalan is the Austin Editor for Miss A. Originally from California, she just celebrated her 11th year in Texas. A proud Longhorn, Meera earned her journalism degree from UT. Some of her hobbies include event planning, writing and baking. She loves trying new recipes and experimenting with food. Her latest creation was Pistachio Fudge. A tech nerd at heart, Meera loves cool iPhone apps and geeking out with friends about social media trends. Aside from the tech stuff, Meera also enjoys discovering new fonts. There’s something about finding the perfect font to help enhance titles. Besides her hobbies, Meera loves free stuff. So far besides tons of samples, she’s won concert tickets, movie passes (compliments of Do512) and a cooking class. 4th Annual Austin Fashion Week

What started out as a “local retailer showcase,” has turned into a week where designers from all over the world come to showcase their work right here in Austin. The 4th Annual Austin Fashion Week will kick off on Friday, August 10 with Shift into Style at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Join the team at Austin Fashion Week and Circuit of The Americas™as they celebrate this glamorous night of fashion, food, and motor sports.

There will be plenty of fashion and cars at the event, bringing fans from both together to kick-off the week.

There are many activities throughout the week at local boutiques in Austin. Events that are definite must-sees are:

 

AFW Showcase Events: Saturday, August 11 – Tuesday, August 14

Through the course of four nights, local retail and salon venues will open their doors to runway shows, trunk shows, cocktail hours, and more. Events will be centered around districts and malls each night along with local boutique and salons events scattered throughout the city.

Saturday, August 11: 2ND Street District
Sunday, August 12: Barton Creek Square
Monday, August 13: Hill Country Galleria
Tuesday, August 14: The Domain

Driskill Runways & Marketplace

Once again, the Driskill Hotel will host the most intimate runway in the city. Each night, up to eight designers from across the globe will show full collections. Along with the shows, be sure to check out dozens of carefully selected jewelry from designers in the Driskill Marketplace.

Austin Fashion Awards

The highlight of Austin Fashion is Week is probably the Austin Fashion Awards.  This year, the awards show will present Austin’s “hall of fame” Trailblazer Awards, along with the Rising Star awards.

The Austin Fashion Awards show will definitely be the place to be Saturday, August 18.  The red carpet starts off at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Lightfaktor Presents: Spectra, The Finale: The Official Austin Fashion Week After Party

Expect the unexpected from the after party. With models styled in LED Fabrics, state of the art video projection mapping and fashion inspired light sculptures, the result is an intense fusion of cutting edge fashion and “mind bending” lighting techniques.
