Alejandra (Ale) Boggiano CEO of Solkissed Swimwear resides in New York, but came to San Diego, where she grew up, with an exclusive sale of her new bikini line.
Ale grew up going to the beach with her family, and often spent time in the beaches in South America. Ale was always asked where she bought her bikinis. Her connection to the beach and fashion would be her inspiration in developing Solkissed Swimwear.
Q. How would you define the style Solkissed exemplifies?
A. Solkissed is an affordable line, good product, different and give options, now colors, styles, new in market, look cute and fashionable. Now, people go to the store and you will find bikinis in the hundred plus range.
Q. How do you choose the fabrics and materials?
A. I work with fabrics imported from Brazil and Latin America, because of their great options. I also work with a lycra shop in Lima, Peru. I sit every year and goes thru the fabric, choose styles. I go for what inspires me, and go thru a lot of different patterns, and a lot of unique, happy colors.
Q. How’s designing the jewelry different than the swimwear?
A. I was inspired by a local artist I met in Machu Picchu a few summers ago. My mom resides in Peru and she contacts him for orders. Solkissed is currently partnering up with the local artist for a micro enterprise to help the local impoverished area.
Q. What is Solkissed’s future?
A. To continue passion toward my brand, it’s what I do as soon as I wake up. Continue to make a personal note with orders , personal service, expand into boutiques, and continue to focus on swimwear for women.
